The History of Tea in Georgia

Tea has a rich history in Georgia, dating back to the 19th century when it was introduced by Prince Miha Eristavi, who brought back tea plants from China. The subtropical climate of Georgia's western regions proved ideal for tea cultivation, leading to the establishment of numerous tea plantations. However, it wasn't until the Soviet era that tea production in Georgia reached its peak, growing to be the world's fourth largest producer of tea. Today, tea remains an integral part of Georgian culture, with its distinct varieties such as Gurian tea, grown in the region of Samegrelo, celebrated for their unique flavors and aromas.

OUR TEA

100% Organic. 100% Georgian.

Grown in the village of Mandaeti, Chiatura, our high-quality organic tea is grown and hand-picked exclusively in the mountain ecosystem. The tea gardens are surrounded by forests and mountains, where extremely cold winters protect the shrubs from disease naturally. This eliminates the use of pesticides, which further enhances the quality of the raw material.
Our tea leaves are hand-picked at 825 metres above sea level, and processed & packaged with modern, ecologically clean technologies.
